Trips, Trucks and Tips
We’ve been pretty quiet here at Wild River Rogues because those of us down in Florida have been packing madly for our upcoming move. And that time has arrived – this week we’ll be loading ourselves, the pets and the baby into a well-endowed U-Haul trailer and moving up north.
Just in time for Winter. Ahh well. That’s what makes the northern Midwest such a good retreat location – no one wants to go there because of the cold!
Please bear with us another few weeks as we move and get settled in, and then we’ll be back to regular posts and newsletters. Believe me, we can’t wait!
And just a little fun prepper tidbit.. if you have a smartphone, try the Craigslist Notifier app. It lets you put in what you are looking for, and where you would like to search. Mine looks like this:
- Grain Mill
- Grain Grinder
- Treadle Sewing Machine
- Jeep Cherokee
The best part? If you are, say, moving across the country, you can search all the different Craigslist zones along the way. There are 26 between here and where we are going.. and that’s 25 more chances to find what I’m looking for. Along the way I’ll be picking up some spare Berkey water filters, and ohhh… about 120 dozen mason jars. My spouse is horrified, and I’m thrilled to death! Good times, good times! Here’s hoping there’s enough room in the back of the U-Haul to fit that many jars…
But if you are going on a long trip, take advantage and see what’s out there along the way. You might find giant lots of canning jars, or perhaps a grain grinder. And you tend to meet like-minded folks when searching for preparedness-related items.
Good hunting, and we’ll be back online in 2 weeks.
